    Abstract: The Academy collects materials related to the history of medicine in Delaware, including books, photographs, papers, organizational records, photographs, and artifacts, among other things. Archival materials do not circulate but the archivist is available to provide reference service and photocopies or photographs, as necessary. Archival materials are also frequently displayed in the Lewis B. Flinn Library and elsewhere in Christiana Hospital.
    Holdings: The Academy holds 1,200 volumes in its rare book collection, 1580-1970 (bulk 1880-1950s); 3,000 medical artifacts, including instruments, doctor’s bags, memorabilia, medicine bottles, and artwork; 31 cubic feet papers and manuscripts (includes photo collection).

    Abstract: The Alan Mason Chesney Medical Archives is the official archival repository of the Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, and the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Archival holdings include institutional records, personal paper collections of individuals associated with the institutions, photographs, fine arts and medical and scientific artifacts which date from the late nineteenth century to the present. Holdings are available for use whenever legal, regulatory, and ethical conditions permit. The Archives staff provides a range of free and fee based services for on site and remote users. Our reading room is open Monday through Friday by appointment only.
    Holdings: The Alan Mason Chesney Medical Archives contains over 24,000 cubic feet of holdings, which includes over 50 institutional record collections, personal paper collections of nearly 500 individuals, biographical files on over 18,000 individuals, over 400,000 still images, over 1300 cans of film, and over 10,000 art and artifact objects.

    Abstract: Georgia Historical Society (GHS) is the premier independent statewide institution responsible for collecting, examining, and teaching Georgia history. GHS houses the oldest and most distinguished collection of materials related exclusively to Georgia history in the nation. The collection covers many subjects in medical history in the state of Georgia. Founded in 1839, the Georgia Historical Society is the oldest continuously operated historical society in the South. As an educational and research institution, GHS teaches Georgia history through a variety of educational programs, scholarly publications, and research services. It publishes the award-winning Georgia Historical Quarterly (Georgia's journal of record since 1917), maintains a library and archives, manages the Historical Marker Program for the State of Georgia, produces the daily television and radio program Today in Georgia History (in partnership with Georgia Public Broadcasting), and organizes the annual K-12 education program Georgia History Festival. Headquartered in Savannah with an office in Atlanta, GHS has over 6,000 members and nearly 200 affiliates in 80 counties.
    Holdings: Within the library and archives is preserved an unparalleled collection of Georgia history, including more than 4 million manuscripts, 100,000 photographs, 30,000 architectural drawings, 15,000 rare and non-rare books, and thousands of maps, portraits, and artifacts. The Georgia Historical Society's vast collection includes such treasures as an original draft of the U.S. Constitution, one of only a handful in existence; a compass and snuff box belonging to Georgia founder James Oglethorpe; records related to the Cherokee Removal and Trail of Tears of 1836; and the correspondence of national figures such as U.S. presidents Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson, Confederate General Robert E. Lee, and Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low. The manuscript collection includes family papers, military records of every Georgia war, the papers of Georgia's major political leaders, colonial account books, diaries, plantation records, papers of social and cultural organizations, and business records ranging from the 18th through the 20th century. The periodical collection dates from the 18th and 19th centuries, and the visual material collection is made up of an impressive collection of photographs and other images including portraits of many of Georgia's most prominent leaders.

    Abstract: The collections of the Louisiana State Museum Archives contain various records and objects pertaining to the medical field in New Orleans; including records and notes from Charity Hospital. The collection includes medical artifacts, books, manuscripts, artifacts, and other miscellaneous information.
    Holdings: The collection consists of more than 800 artifacts from the late 19th and early 20th century. It includes: medicine bottles, surgical tools and equipment, and collected works by Joseph Jones. We also hold informaation on various other 19th century New Orleans physicians; including topics such as maladies and medicine in Louisiana, a large collection of works concerning the Yellow Fever epidemic in New Orleans in the 19th century, records on Charity the Hospital which includes: benefactors administrative and financial reports, and Board Meeting minutes from the 1880’s until 1940’s.

    Abstract: The Sophia at Smith Collection is an internationally recognized repository of manuscripts, archives, photographs, periodicals and other primary sources in women’s history. It was founded in 1942 to be the library’s distinctive contribution to the college’s mission of educating women. The staff regularly responds to reference requests by phone, mail, fax, e-mail, and in person. A picture I. D. is required on the first visit. Although it is not necessary to notify the reference staff in advance of a visit, researchers are encouraged to do so to be certain that the materials they wish to use are available. They may also request finding aids be sent in advance. Photocopying and reproduction of images and audiovisual materials are available upon request. For more information, visit our website.
    Holdings: The SSC consists of over 600 collections (almost 10,000 linear feet) of material in manuscript, print, photographic and audiovisual formats. The holdings document the historical experience of women in the United States and abroad from the colonial era to the present. Subject strengths include birth control and reproductive rights, women’s rights, suffrage, the contemporary women’s movement, U. S. women working abroad, the arts, the professions, and family life. Many of these collections are rich sources of visual, as well as manuscript and printed material. Included are a number of collections and oral histories of women in medicine (physicians, nurses, public health specialists, medical missionaries, midwives, and medical researchers).
