    Abstract: The James J. Waring, M.D., History of Medicine and Health Sciences Collections contain approximately 10,000 titles in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, and biology, reflecting the history of the health sciences and the University of Colorado Denver Anschultz Medical Campus. The circulating collection consists of ca. 6,000 modern works on the history of medicine and nonrare works published between 1875 and 1913. The Rare Materials Collections consists of ca. 4700 titles. Most circulating items are accessible through the library's online catalog, IMPULSE (<a href="http://hslibrary.ucdenver.edu/" >http://hslibrary.ucdenver.edu/</a>.). Approximately 50% of the rare book collection is searchable via IMPULSE.
    Holdings: The Rare Materials Collection contain ca. 170 artifacts and some archival materials, but the bulk of the collection consists of printed materials from the 15th through the 20th centuries, with its greatest strength in 19th century publications. Subject strengths include tuberculosis and respiratory medicine, cardiology, and homeopathy. The collection has grown primarily by gift, with the largest donations coming from the libraries of James J. Waring, M.D., Gerald Bertram Webb, M.D., Charles Denison, M.D., and Florence Rena Sabin, M.D. Items in the rare book collection are available for use by appointment between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Wednesdays and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Fridays, and other times by special arrangement.

    Abstract: The NUNM library is an academic library serving a graduate medical school. Our programs include: Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine, Doctorate of Science in Oriental Medicine, Master of Science in Oriental Medicine, Master of Science in Global Health, Master of Science in Integrative Medicine Research, Master of Science in Nutrition, Bachelor of Science in Integrative Health Sciences, and Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. The library has approximately 16,000 volumes, with extensive collections in Chinese medicine, naturopathic medicine, homeopathy, botanical medicine, nutrition, physical medicine, hydrotherapy, and other areas relevant to its curricula. The library is open to the public, but does not extend borrowing privileges to public patrons.
    Holdings: The library has a 1,400 volume rare book room that includes mostly 19th century materials (books and journals) covering the fields of homeopathy, hydrotherapy, naturopathy, and nature cure.     Abstract: Special Collections includes materials in all formats on the history of the health sciences and ancillary disciplines, the East Asian Collection of health-related materials in Asian languages, and the University Archives, which collects administrative records and materials on the history and development of the UCSF campus (an all health sciences campus). Specific subject emphases include anatomy and physiology; dentistry; pharmacy; nursing; obstetrics and gynecology; forensic medicine and toxicology; high altitude physiology; cholera and communicable diseases; occupational medicine; homeopathy; alternative medicine; California; Sir William Osler and his circle (Cushing, Garrison, etc.); tuberculosis; women in medicine; anesthesiology; smallpox in Mexico; managed care; antivivisection; AIDS; biotechnology; tobacco control. The East Asian collection numbers some 14,000 volumes, 400 manuscripts, and 400 prints, dating from 16th to the 20th century.

    Abstract: Special Collections and University Archives in the Library of the Health Sciences at the University of Illinois Chicago houses rare books and archives, including pre-fire Chicago imprints (prior to 1871) related to the history of the health sciences. The department also houses the records of the University Archives related to the health science colleges. Many of the historical materials focus on the development of the health sciences in Chicago and the Midwest. The Special Collections and University Archives is open to the public and provides reference, photocopying, and photographic reproduction services.
    Holdings: The strengths of Special Collections and University Archives are neurology, urology, dermatology, and the history of medicine, including collections of early anatomies, herbals, pharmacopeias, and formularies. There are over 23,000 volumes of pre-1930 monographs and pre-1900 journals and over 5,000 linear feet of archival collections, in addition to photographs, slides, and artifacts. We hold records from the pre-UIC health colleges, including the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Chicago and the Chicago College of Pharmacy. Other archival collections include the Cook County School of Nursing records, the Illinois Occupational Therapy Association records, the Horizon Hospice records, and the Abraham Low/Recovery International collections.

    Abstract: Palmer College of Chiropractic's Special Collections & Archives Department contains original source materials on chiropractic, osteopathy, homeopathy and other non-drug, non-surgical healing arts. Special Collections & Archives materials do not circulate. Access to the book, journal and most manuscript collections are open; College Archives materials access is restricted. Public service hours are 8:30 a. m. - 5:00 p.m, Monday - Friday; other times for access may be arranged by special appointment.
