    Abstract: The bulk of the history of medicine collection at SDSU is made up of books donated by SDSU professor Calvert Norland. These books focus on a variety of subjects in the history of medicine, but have a wealth of information on malaria.
    Holdings: Approximately 200 volumes relating specifically to the history of medicine and a manuscript collection with ephemeral and artwork items relating to the history of medicine. The bulk of the collection is 19th and 20th century monographs. There are no incunabula.

    Abstract: The James J. Waring, M.D., History of Medicine and Health Sciences Collections contain approximately 10,000 titles in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, and biology, reflecting the history of the health sciences and the University of Colorado Denver Anschultz Medical Campus. The circulating collection consists of ca. 6,000 modern works on the history of medicine and nonrare works published between 1875 and 1913. The Rare Materials Collections consists of ca. 4700 titles. Most circulating items are accessible through the library's online catalog, IMPULSE (<a href="http://hslibrary.ucdenver.edu/" >http://hslibrary.ucdenver.edu/</a>.). Approximately 50% of the rare book collection is searchable via IMPULSE.
    Holdings: The Rare Materials Collection contain ca. 170 artifacts and some archival materials, but the bulk of the collection consists of printed materials from the 15th through the 20th centuries, with its greatest strength in 19th century publications. Subject strengths include tuberculosis and respiratory medicine, cardiology, and homeopathy. The collection has grown primarily by gift, with the largest donations coming from the libraries of James J. Waring, M.D., Gerald Bertram Webb, M.D., Charles Denison, M.D., and Florence Rena Sabin, M.D. Items in the rare book collection are available for use by appointment between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Wednesdays and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Fridays, and other times by special arrangement.

    Abstract: The Local History and Genealogy Division has two major collections of medical history information. These consist of the Dr. George W. Goler Papers (Rochester city health officer 1896-1932), and the Records of the Health Association of Rochester and Monroe County (1920s-1980s). All items must be used on site (there is no inter-library loan of them), and there may be photocopying restrictions depending on the physical condition of an item. Photography is allowed. Reference service is available 7 days a week in person or via email, phone, or letter. Public access for research in the collection is free. Staff does not do research. Additional information concerning various medical personnel (1936-present) may be available in photograph, pamphlet, and newspaper clippings files.
    Holdings: The Goler Papers consist of records covering the years 1892-1932. Dr. George W. Goler (1864-1940) was the Director of the Board of Health in Rochester, New York. The collection comprises approximately 30 linear feet It includes correspondence, laboratory reports, articles, and notes of Dr. Goler. Subjects include contraception, air quality, child care, drugs, sanitation, housing, influenza, pneumonia, tuberculosis and other communicable diseases, insects and vermin, venereal disease and its treatment (especially as related to the "Rochester method" of treatment), testing and purification of milk, water supply protection, smallpox vaccination, diphtheria anti-toxin, and other topics related to public health in Rochester, NY. Supplemented by a "Guide to the Goler Collection (Dr. George W. Goler, Rochester Health Officer) in the Local History Division, RPL", by Shirley Iversen, [Rochester, N.Y.: Rochester Public Library, 1979], containing a detailed inventory and description of contents. The entire collection consists of 75 Hollinger boxes. The Health Association collection consists of 12 boxes of items related to the operations of the Association, 1920s-1980s. These include correspondence, advertising materials, 200 colored glass slides used in public health presentations (covering communicable disease, venereal diseases sanitation etc.). A detailed inventory is available in the division. The collection also includes five scrapbooks with about 200 photos of hospitals, patients, etc.

    Abstract: The New Mexico Health Historical Collection was established in 1984 to document health and healthcare practices in the state by collecting and preserving materials to be used for research and education. The collections, which include oral histories, rare books, photographs, artifacts, and a New Mexico/Southwest monograph collection, are available for use by the general public in the New Mexico Health Historical Collections room as well as through interlibrary loan (depending on the condition of the item requested). SERVICES: Researchers may request photocopies of materials. Some materials cannot be copied due to its condition and/or other restriction.     Holdings: Cataloged holdings include more that 150 oral histories with health care professionals working in the state starting from the early 1900s, approximately 200 photograph collections that date from the late 1890s to the present, and the New Mexico/Southwest Collection of more than 800 books, reports, and presentations. In adddition, the repository holds the New Mexico Medical Society Records, 1905-present; many materials on the subject of tuberculosis in the west including the newly preocessed Carl H. Gellenthien Collection of the Valmora Industrial [Tuberculosis] Sanatorium, 1904-1989; and records currently being processed from the Lovelace Foundation for Medical Education and Research, 1947-1980.
