The History Center also collects material on the history of southern medical education, particularly Florida, and the history of education in the health professions in general. The circulating collection consists of ca. 6,000 modern works on the history of medicine and nonrare works published between 1875 and 1913. The Rare Materials Collections consists of ca. 4700 titles. Highlights of the collection include a Civil War-era amputation kit, vintage electrocardiographs, microscopes, and early electroconvulsive therapy equipment.
