It takes a total space of just under 800 m2. Alongside the specimen collection and the historical patients' ward, two further display rooms provide a path through medical history over the past 300 years. The presentation follows the ever-changing historical view of and into the body, finally arriving at the "recipient" of medicine, the patient, and the possibilities inherent in today's medicine. Parallel to the presentation of objects is a long band of text and pictures that connects the rooms with each other and shows in spotlight form the rise of the Charité to one of Europe's largest university hospitals. The museum has a dedicated area for special exhibitions as well.
