    Abstract: Founded in 1795, the library holds a collection of old and rare books, dating back to the Middle Ages. The library also runs digitization programs in the history of medicine. These programs include a Hippocratic collection; Galen’s works; 19th century dissertations of the medical school of Paris and many other electronic documents; web sites of learned societies. 2.2 M pages as of March 2011. SERVICES: reference assistance in person, by phone, mail, fax, and e-mail; in-house photocopying allowed depending upon the document; photocopies, photographs, microforms, and digitized reproductions for interlibrary loan purposes.
    Holdings: Incunabula: 100; 16th century: 3,000 titles; 17th century: 6,000 titles; 18th century: 12,000 titles; 19th century: 40,000 titles. Manuscripts: 800; journals: 20,000 titles. Total holdings: more than 100,000 volumes. Noteworthy: many editio princeps (first printed editions of manuscripts); "Les Commentaires" of the medical school of Paris (1395-1786; 24 volumes in folio); Parisian medical dissertations from the 16th century. The Academic Medical Library of Paris (BIUM) has published eight series of full-text accessible electronic editions: Corpus of Ancient Physicians (Hippocrates, Galen, Oribase, Rufus of Ephesus et al.), Sources of Medical Specialties (Anatomy, ORL, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Odontology, Psychology, etc.), References (19th century medical dictionaries, Eponymic diseases, journals), History of Medicine and Paris Medical School, Epidemics and diseases (melancholy, plague, migraine), Medieval medicine, Physicians and scientists (Claude Bernard, Bichat, Marey, Orfila, Vesalius, Vicq d'Azyr et al.), and Varia (Paris Medical School dissertations, Bailliere Publishing Co., Printed catalogues of surgical and dental instruments, History of women's entrance into medicine). Virtual exhibits are accessible as well (WWI smashed faces, Boccone's Herbals, Monsters from the Renaissance up to the XVIIth century, A. Paré's works, Jules Cloquet's travel journal, P Fauchard's works). Medical images databank: (200,000 portraits and various illustrations as of September, 2015).

    Abstract: The Fragonard museum is one of the oldest museums in France. It was established in 1766 in the new veterinary school of Alfort, the second created in the world after Lyon 1762). The collections are made of more than 5.000 items and 4.200 of them are displayed to the public. The museum is made of four rooms ; the first one is devoted to normal anatomy and teratology with an amazing collection of colored plaster casts. Skeletons and paper maché models made by Auzoux are presented in the second room. The third one deals with old diseases that were very common during the XIXth century. And the fourth room is the cabinet of curiosities in which are presented the écorchés de Fragonard, an amazing collection of dehydrated bodies that were dissected by the first director of the school, and first professor of anatomy, Honoré Fragonard (1732-1799).
    Holdings: More than 5.000 objects in the collection. 4.200 displayed to the public. Some masterworks : the rider, and the horse holding a horse jaw, by Honoré Fragonard (prepared between 1766 and 1771) ; the anatomical and zoological models of Louis Auzoux, including the horse, the beatle, the fish... ; a collection of hundreds of colored casts made of wax or plaster. The museum also preserve a collection of old books dealing with veterinary medicine : XVIth century : 130 titles ; XVIIth century : 310 titles ; XVIIIth century : 800 titles ; more than 3.000 titles from the XIXth century.

    Abstract: Founded in 1820, the Academy holds, through its library, a collection of rare and ancient books, including more than a hundred of medical incunabula. The library also holds very important archival collections from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. In addition, the library keeps paintings, sculptures and medals from the academic life throughout the 19th and the 20th centuries. It also has a iconographic collection whose digitalized views can be seen in the image bank of the Bibliothèque interuniversitaire de Santé of Paris. We respond to reference inquires and provide copies in the case of Interlibrary Loan requests.

    Abstract: The MS2 is a new institution which gathers a large collection of objects and books in all field of medicine and medical sciences. Subjects include (surgery, dentistry, pharmacy, pharmacognosy, natural history, parasitology, egyptology, paleopathology, teratology, radiology…). The major part of the current collection comes from the Testut-Latarjet Anatomy Museum, a (now closed) which was based in Lyon, a high place of French medicine and pharmacy: it includes archives and memories of famous physicians such as Lacassagne or Locard, both fathers of forensic medicine. In addition, at term, the MS2 project will be enriched with other medical collections from local sources, notably the Lyon dental private museum.The museum main project is to save and gather all these prestigious medical collections in a unique place. Since 2015, the museum is temporarily installed in a warehouse equipped with storage and exhibition rooms and offices in Rillieux-la-Pape, near Lyon. It is still awaiting to relocate into permanent premices. At the moment, the holdings are partially open to public, artists, students or searchers in Rillieux-la-Pape on special demand.
    Holdings: Collections from the Testut-Latarjet museum: hold approximately 1.500 old books in the field of medicine and medical sciences (natural history, pharmacy…), 3000 objects (wet specimen, instruments, photography, sculptures, medals, and medical equipment) Unique medicine collections and specimens: Ollier (oteopathology), Gall (craniology), Destot (radiology), Lacassagne (forensic and legal medicine), Testut (anatomy, drawings…) with a focus on the history of pathology, wax moulages, embryology and teratology specimen…Bones and skeletons from the Laboratory of anthropology and paleopathology. Some other rare and remarkable pieces: crane of Lambert Gregoire Ladré (a popular street singer and storyteller who becomes « Gnafron », the famous character from Mourguet’s Guignol puppet show) –mortuary masks of Jacquard, inventor of the loom – a unique exemplary of a non-genuine Mesmer’s baquet –egyptian and modern mummies – peruvian shrunken heads Collections from the Lyon Dental museum includes around 6.000 pieces including dentist's chair and tooth-extraction equipements, milling device, spitoons, models, pictures and photographies, prosthetics, dental x-ray systems, old dental lab replica, ancient books, posters, and postal cards.
