Specific subject emphases include anatomy and physiology; dentistry; pharmacy; nursing; obstetrics and gynecology; forensic medicine and toxicology; high altitude physiology; cholera and communicable diseases; occupational medicine; homeopathy; alternative medicine; California; Sir William Osler and his circle (Cushing, Garrison, etc.); tuberculosis; women in medicine; anesthesiology; smallpox in Mexico; managed care; antivivisection; AIDS; biotechnology; tobacco control.
