    Abstract: The Special Collections and Archives department of the Leon S. McGoogan Health Sciences Library at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha holds a collection of rare and important medical books, journals, and manuscripts; equipment, instruments, and other objects related to the health sciences; the official records and archives of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and private manuscript collections with an emphasis in the health sciences, especially as they relate to Nebraska. The collection also holds photographs, works of art, and other ephemera.
    Holdings: The Special Collections contains medical manuscripts, some dating to the 1490s; medical incunabula; printed books from 16th through 20th centuries, including concentrations in general anatomy, obstetrics and gynecology, and orthopedics. We have works by Newton, Jenner, Darwin, Albertus Magnus, Vesalius, Rosslin, Hunter, etc.; the Moon Collection of obstetrical works; H. Winnett Orr rare book collection, especially orthopedics. The History of Medicine collection includes equipment, instruments, and objects representing the History and development of the health sciences, especially in Nebraska. Of note is a Collection of over 100 moulages (wax anatomical models) which were made by a medical artist on our campus in the 1930s, based on actual cases from the University of Nebraska Hospital. The University of Nebraska Medical Center archives include university records, personal papers, year books, college bulletins, annual reports, commencement programs, masters thesis and doctoral dissertations, nursing research papers, and photographs (campus/institutional related, Nebraska doctors, Nebraska hospitals, etc.), monographs, journals and ephemera. Holdings also include a collection of oral history interviews conducted in 1979-1980 for the centennial of the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1981.

    Abstract: The Ruth Lilly Medical Library’s History of Medicine Collection is committed to supporting the research, learning, and educational success of Indiana University students, faculty, and community members by collecting, preserving, interpreting, and providing access to unique materials documenting the history of medicine; medical education, training, research, and practice; and health and disease treatment and prevention in the state of Indiana and beyond within the global context of the Western medical tradition.

    Abstract: Inaugurated in 1944, the Library of the National Academy of Medicine holds over 45,000 scientific books and 1,330 periodical publications. The library is open to the public in general. Researchers and students of science careers are its primary visitors. There are no fees or memberships required to access the collections. The library provides reference service and consulting in the reading room; as well as photocopying service, bibliographic commutation and interlibrary loan. Our catalogue can be consulted online at <a href="http://www.biblioteca.anm.edu.ar/revistas.htm" > http://www.biblioteca.anm.edu.ar/revistas.htm </a>. The Library also coordinates the activities of RENICS (Red Nacional de Informacion en Ciencias de la Salud - National Network of Information in Health Sciences), a network which gathers the holdings of scientific national libraries and assist to the development of databases and human resources in the bioinformatics area.
    Holdings: The antiquarian collection of 31,385 books comprises items from year 1489 to 1970, mainly works written in French, German and Spanish. The modern collection contains over 10,000 volumes from 1970 to date. The Library holds rare and valuable scientific works, including thesis from the medical pioneers of Argentina, and a wide number of biographies and first editions from local authors. It also covers works of History of Public Health, Chemistry, Obstetrics, Pathology, Surgery and Physiology. The Periodicals holdings contain 1330 collections from year 1867 to date -- among them 288 current titles. Many of these are national publications which only can be found complete in the library. The access to the collections is free, but the availability of rare books printed before 18th century is restricted to authorized readers.

    Abstract: Special Collections includes materials in all formats on the history of the health sciences and ancillary disciplines, the East Asian Collection of health-related materials in Asian languages, and the University Archives, which collects administrative records and materials on the history and development of the UCSF campus (an all health sciences campus).     Abstract: The History of Medicine Collection serves as a resource for students, faculty, and researchers in general. It contains early medical works of scholarly significance, pre-1850 original research, and medical classics. Subject coverage is broad with concentrations in early anatomy, surgery, pharmacy, obstetrics and gynecology, American medical literature from the early 1800s, the medieval motive of the b Dance of Death, lead poisoning, homeopathy, cardiology, pathology, and hernia repair. In mid- to late 2008 the rare collections of the Public Health and Dentistry libraries were incorporated into the History of Medicine Collection. The print collections are all cataloged and represented in the University of Michigan's online catalog Mirlyn (see Web address above).
    Holdings: With titles dating from 1470 to the early 20th century, the collections consist of approximately 6,300 monographs (primarily pre-1822 imprints), a small collection of journals, 82 incunabula, medical fugitive sheets, medical portraits, and a collection of 52 medical magic amulets from Late Antiquity. In addition, there is an extensive homeopathy collection, including the Bradford Collection of 1,027 pamphlets and the contents of the former University of Michigan Homeopathic Library. The History of Medicine Collection has grown primarily by gift, with the largest donations coming from the libraries of Le Roy Crummer, M.D., Lewis Stephen Pilcher, M. D., Aldred Scott Warthin, M.D., and George E. Wantz.
